Google requires a short, continuous video (usually under 2 minutes) recorded on a smartphone. The video must be one continuous shot with no pauses or edits.

Gather these items before you open the camera:

  • The Keys: Have the physical key or key fob to the main leasing office door in your hand.

  • Official Document: Place a utility bill, business license, or official property mail (showing the property's name and exact address) on a desk inside the office.

  • Computer Screen: Have a computer inside turned on, logged in, and displaying your property management software or the community's official website.

  • Clear the Area: Google prefers not to see people's faces or sensitive resident information. Try to record when the lobby is empty.

HOW TO RECORD YOUR VERIFICATION VIDEO:

 

Accessing the Camera:
Log into your Google Business Profile dashboard on your smartphone. Tap "Get Verified" and select the "Capture Video" option.

Once the camera opens, follow this exact route:

Step 1: Start Outside (Prove the Location)

  • Start outside the building on the sidewalk or parking lot.

  • Point the camera at the street sign, building number, or main community monument sign.

  • Slowly pan the camera to show the exterior of the leasing office and the permanent signage outside the front door.

Step 2: Unlock the Door (Prove Access)

  • Walk up to the locked leasing office door.

  • Keep the camera rolling as you physically show your hand using the key/fob to unlock and open the door. (This proves to Google that you are an authorized employee, not a resident or someone walking by).

Step 3: Show the Office (Prove Operations)

  • Walk inside and pan the camera to show the leasing desk and lobby area.

  • Walk over to the desk and point the camera at the computer screen showing your property management software or website.

  • Point the camera at the utility bill or official mail sitting on the desk to clearly show the matching property name and address.

  • Hit Stop Recording.

AFTER YOU RECORD:

  • Review: Quickly review the video to ensure it captured the outside signage, the physical unlocking of the door, and the proof of management on the desk.

  • Upload: Tap Upload Video.

  • Wait: Crucial Step: Please stay connected to the property's Wi-Fi and keep the screen open until the upload reaches exactly 100%.
