Creating a New Deal (Current Clients)

This article walks you through how to create a new deal in HubSpot for an existing client. It covers where to find the child company, how to fill out each required field, and what details to double-check before creating the deal.

Follow these steps to create a new deal in HubSpot for an existing client (child company).

1. Locate the Child Company

  1. In HubSpot, use the search bar in the top left corner to find the child company (property name).
  2. Once located, click on the child company to open its profile.

2. Start a New Deal

  1. On the right-hand side of the child company profile, look for the “Deals” section.
  2. Click “+ Add”, then select “Create Deal.”

3. Fill Out Deal Information

Complete each field carefully:

  • Deal Name:
    Use the format:
Parent Company Name – Child Company Name – Line Item Name
  • Account Manager:
If you don’t know who the AM is, look up the Parent Company in HubSpot to find the assigned Account Manager.
  • Sales Rep:
    Enter the Account Manager’s name.
(Note: Sometimes Barrie is the Sales Rep — double-check to confirm.)
  • Next Follow-Up Date:
Enter the appropriate follow-up date for the deal.
  • Next Follow-Up Notes:
Add any notes you have. If there are no notes, enter “N/A.”
  • Closing Percentage:
Use your judgment based on client readiness:
    • 90% → Client is ready to sign
    • 75% → Highly interested, likely to move forward
    • 50% → Early discussion stage
  • Deal Type:
Select “Existing Business” (since this SOP applies to current clients).
  • Industry Type:
Choose “Real Estate” or “General Market” as appropriate.
  • Contacts:
Add all relevant contacts that should be associated with this deal.
  • Companies:
This should automatically populate with the child company since the deal was created from its profile. Double-check it’s correct.
  • Add Line Items:
Click “Add Line Item” and include all services the client is interested in.

4. Review and Create

Before finalizing:

  • Double-check all information for accuracy.
  • Make sure all required fields (marked with “*”) are filled out — missing required fields will prevent deal creation.
  • Once verified, click “Create.”
